Traditional publishing vs self publishing, which one to choose?
For a new writer there is always a dilemma as to choose which one among the two: traditional publishing or the new vogue, the self publishing. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, one has to understand them logically to make the right decision.
In the traditional publishing, there are big names especially of such esteemed publishing houses running down from generation to generation. The advantage here is if you crack here you get the maximum sale of your book because the roots of traditional publishers are very deep and wide. But the point is if you can push yourself through which is almost next to impossible for a new comer to this field. On the contrary, if you plan to go to self publishing company, you are always welcomed and your work respected.
Secondly the procedure in traditional publishing is to first a book proposal. This book proposal will decide the fate of your book. So you need to breathe your life into few pages. In this case your work is double, you first pay to ghostwrite the proposal and if selected then you pay again for writing the manuscript. While in self publishing, there is no such requirement. If you are confident about your idea then nothing to stop you, just jump on!
If you self publish your work, you save on time and also earn more. For traditional publishers pay very less royalty. So from economic point of view also, self publishing seems to be a better option.
If you have faith on yourself and your work, then why waste time, self publish your work and begin to win laurels.
