Unless and until the contents on your page get noted by the spider and indexed, no amount of effort can give you the best search engine optimization results. Not only your page but every part of it should be recognized by the SEO spider or else the results could be disastrous for you.

The cliché in this is that many search engines do not recognize java script and if you build up your links with it, they may not be displayed at all by the search engines. Do not also use session ID in your URL. Google and leading search engines will avoid them. Therefore the URLs with longish numbers should be avoided.
Every page should link on to another page. The pages, to which you can navigate since these pages are linked with some other pages, may end your journey there. Normally, they do not link to any other page and are called the dangling links. Such pages need to be avoided. This will adversely affect the calculation of page ranking and consequentially affect your display in the top ten on the search engine result page. This is important for Google search engine optimization as the dangling links will be removed from the search engine.
Finally, you should structure your internal links in such manner that it helps the targeted search terms to link to sub page of the topic.
